Whether it’s an audition, a wedding, a talent show or a recording, singers often need a backing track — the song without the lead vocal. Here’s the full process.
1. Separate the song
Upload your chosen song and run Studio HD. Open the Instrumental tab — that’s your backing track with the music intact and the lead vocal removed.
2. Check it carefully
Listen through on headphones. Most tracks come out clean; occasionally a faint vocal trace remains in a busy section. If it’s distracting, try a higher-quality source file, which usually improves the result.
3. Trim to your arrangement
Performing a shortened version? Use the Song Cutter to set your exact start and end, then export. No more awkwardly long intros or extra verses you weren’t planning to sing.
4. Download the right format
Download a WAV if a sound engineer will play it through a PA system — it’s the highest quality. Grab an MP3 if you just need it on your phone for practice.
5. Practise with the original too
Switch to the Original tab to rehearse alongside the real singer first, then move to the instrumental once you’re confident. It’s the fastest way to nail a song.
