How to Make a Karaoke Track at Home Without Any Software

June 25, 2026 · 1 min read

Karaoke night doesn’t need a karaoke machine or a paid app. If you have the original song, you can make your own karaoke version — the full music with the lead vocal taken out — in just a few minutes.

The quick version

  1. Open Vocal Studio and upload your song.
  2. Tap Studio HD and let the AI separate it.
  3. Open the Instrumental tab — that’s your karaoke track.
  4. Download it as MP3 (smaller, easy to share) or WAV (highest quality).

That instrumental keeps the drums, bass, guitars and keys, just without the lead singer. Play it back, grab a mic, and you have karaoke.

Make it even better

A couple of small touches go a long way:

  • Trim the intro or outro with the built-in Song Cutter if you only want the part you’ll sing.
  • Join two songs into one file with the Music Joiner if you’re making a medley.
  • Keep the original handy too — switching to the Original tab lets you practise with the real vocal before going solo.

A note on backing vocals

AI separation removes the lead vocal beautifully, but some songs layer harmonies and backing vocals deep into the mix. Occasionally a faint trace remains. For most pop, worship and film songs the result is clean enough for a great karaoke night, and it is far better than the old centre-cancel method that wrecked the music.
